SYDNEY 2002 ASIAN OUTREACH
As you probably know, Sydney will be hosting Gay Games VI in
2002. Not only will it be a huge sporting event, but there will
also be an associated cultural festival. Here's what the organiser
have to say :
Dear Friends
As you probably know, Sydney will be hosting Gay Games VI in
2002. Not only will it be a huge sporting event, but there will
also be an associated cultural festival. The Games endeavour
to bring together people from different countries and diverse
backgrounds to share sporting, cultural and political experiences.
There are several outreach programs which aim to assist some
participants from diverse backgrounds within gay and lesbian
communities. We are involved with Asian Outreach where we want
to contact Asian lesbians and gay men both in Australia and
in Asia who would be interested in participating in any of the
many activities associated with the Games. Currently we are
concentrating on lesbian and gay groups, rather than individuals
(but if you want to be involved, contact us), who may be interested
in participating in the largest lesbian and gay cultural and
sporting event in the world.
If you know of any Asian groups in Asia, can you please let
us know, as we want to encourage their participation. We have
good contacts in the Philippines and Hong Kong, some contacts
in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan, but few contacts
in Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea and Cambodia. We have contacts
in Beijing and Shanghai but not in the rest of China. We are
leaving the Indian subcontinent and the Pacific region to other
outreach groups.
If you could help us to access Asian groups we would be grateful.
If you are interested in receiving a monthly Asian Outreach
Newsletter from the Asian Outreach committee please reply to
this e-mail.(Contact the moderator for the email address)
Further information on the Games is available on the Sydney
2002 website www.gaygamesvi.org.au.
Thanking you for your time William Yang and Teddy Liad for Asian
Outreach.
